Wildfox Spring 2014 // The Lagoon
With Toronto having just been blanketed in a fresh coat of snow, the new Wildfox Spring 2014 collection, The Wildfox Lagoon, is exactly what our sun-starved dreams are made of. Island landscapes, tousled mermaid hair, floral crowns, sunset dances on the beach, and getting lost in the beauty of it all.
According to Kimberley Gordon, the concept behind the collection is a combination of runway trends and personal inspiration: "You get the feeling about what's going to be big from the runway, and then I pick a story based on that and what's inspiring me. I saw tropical and immediately thought of a island girl, with beautiful flowing hair--totally Blue Lagoon."
"If you were stranded on a desert island and could only bring one thing, what would it be? It's a question that arises often, especially in film... we are constantly entertained by and questioning the idea of being stranded on a remote island. Sometimes, sitting at my desk on an extremely busy day at work, I even wish for it.
What would Wildfox look like stranded on an island, we wondered? Well it's pretty obvious… extremely sexy (with serious laugh out loud moments.)"
I think it's fair to say that we'd be more than willing to get lost with the Wildfox girls any day, especially on an island beach with a dreamy wardrobe. And as we relish these last months of winter and try to appreciate the beauty of our great Canadian winter and all of the layering potential it may bring (think positive!) we can't help but wish, just a little bit, for bare legs and long summer nights.
