Best of 2013

2013To say that 2013 was a busy year would be an understatement, but we wouldn't have had it any other way. As we set our sights on this new year and make lists of everything we hope to accomplish in the next twelve months, we also wanted to take a bit of time to look back on what we accomplished last year, and reflect on a few of our favourite moments.

1We started the year off by celebrating the month of February and what it represents to so many of us: Valentine's Day. Our lookbook was titled 'Bohemian Love Story', and featured two couples and the adorable-ness of new love.

2Our first trip of the new year was to Las Vegas, for a tradeshow and also to shoot our spring campaign. We brought along a few girlfriends and had a blast, with a mixture of work and play.

3Our spring campaign launched in March, with a series of shots around Toronto (and Las Vegas!), proving that "Our Clothes Work Everywhere". This was something a little different for us, and tons of fun to focus on showcasing our clothes in a different way.

4Those who follow us know that we hold a special place in our hearts for LA, and in 2013 we were lucky enough to travel to the lovely city on a number of occasions, conducting buying appointments, shooting as much as we could, and exploring our home away from home.

4bSpring is always one of the most exciting times at the shop, when the new collections start arriving and the promise of summer dresses and bright colours is just around the corner. We always like to start a season with a 'Top 10' list, giving us a guideline of what we want to accomplish and setting some style goals.

5On one of our spring trips to California, we were lucky enough to shoot with local photographer Sarah Shreves in Venice Beach for our first lookbook in LA, ever! She was amazing to work with and the final shots took our breath away. One of the many reasons we love LA.

6We spend a lot of time in May and June working on first short film, '90 Days', and it was such an amazing experience, and we couldn't have been more thrilled with the final product, celebrating new love and summer in the city.

7We headed to Montreal for the Osheaga music festival in August, and on top of enjoying all of the amazing talent we also filmed a series of video clips in which we documented our time at the festival, scoped out our favourite festival fashion and talked to festival-goers about what they were wearing. Definitely a highlight of our summer.

8We started hosting DIY floral workshops with Blush & Bloom in the fall, and with an evening of creating, shopping, and socializing, they were such a success. Every workshop was a little different, and we also had custom photo backdrops by Beaus & Belles at each one. Definitely something we'll be continuing into the new year.

9We spent a good part of the summer and fall redesigning and building our new website, and in November we were finally ready to relaunch it. Such a proud moment.

10We decided to title the holiday season at Bicyclette 'Sparkle Season', which seemed fitting, and we kicked it off with a new lookbook in November, which was just the beginning.

11To wrap up the holiday season, we created another short film celebrating the magic of the season and all things sparkly. We wanted to encourage people to enjoy the thrill of the hunt, whether for the perfect dress or the perfect gift, and have a little fun.
