Behind the Brand

When the owners of this historic inn came to us, they had recently undergone a full interior renovation of the boutique hotel and were looking to elevate the branding to match.

Our primary intention for The Rosemount Inn’s brand design was to pay homage to the historic and traditional Victorian roots of the inn, while also carrying the design into a more modern space that reflects this new era in the interior design and overall brand experience. We want to embrace the desire to indulge in beautiful experiences and details, bringing a sense of modernity to the traditionally ornate and decorative style of the times for the brand design itself, while also infusing thoughtful, authentic and personal touches to the modern hotel experience.

DEEPER MEANING

For the Rosemount wordmark, we chose a font that — similarily to the house itself — is tall, stately and refined, with a confident contrast between thick and thin line weights and a subtly editorial feel. Infused with style and contrast, we play with the proportions of the letterforms, specifically in the ‘O’’s, which add an unexpected twist to the more traditional style. The type treatment is kept minimal and clean, with the height of the wordmark carried through both the serif and sans serif font choices.

We’ve added in small touches of a more traditional script, which beautifully balances out the more modern styles and lends itself to the curiosity that is so important to the brand.

The colour palette is pulled directly from the interior design of The Rosemount, with a balance of warmer neutrals offset with cool, rich tones that feel luxurious and modern. Simplicity in layout design is key, leaving lots of white space and focusing on rich yet subtle textures, similar to what you find in the space itself.
