What to Wear // Favourite Holiday Activities

holidayoutfits2

'Tis the season to enjoy all of our favourite festive holiday activities, which of course poses the question of what to wear. Whether you're spreading holiday cheer around the house, or out and about on top secret shopping missions, we think it's important to dress for the occasion and put a little extra seasonal sparkle into your outfit. Bearing that in mind, we made a list of a few of our favourite holiday activities and set about styling Emily for each one.

Shopping for Gifts // An essential part of the holiday season, hunting for the perfect gift for that special someone is always one of our favourite challenges. It's no secret we're fans of shopping locally, so we're more likely to hit one of our favourite Toronto neighbourhoods - like West Queen West or Roncesvalles - than the mall. To dress for an outing such as this, it's all about comfortable layers and accessorizing, which is why we've opted for a classic black and white ensemble topped off with a fluffy cream jacket and speckled black and white toque. To add a little sparkle (always essential!), we pinned on our favourite holiday accessory, the Ban.do sequin mini heart, and also brought along the 'hot stuff' thermal mug for that oh-so-essential cup of coffee or tea to keep us going. holidayoutfits9holidayoutfits10holidayoutfits11

Holiday Baking // There's nothing quite like spending a day in the kitchen with a loved one, Christmas music on in the background and the sweet smell of holiday baking wafting through the house. We've already begun the search for our favourite recipes this season, starting with these delicious White Chocolate Sprinkle Pretzels, and we can guarantee that there are more to come. For an indoor activity such as this, we've opted for a lace trimmed For Love & Lemons dress layered under a floral Wildfox White Label sweater that's perfect for channeling your inner Martha Stewart. Keep your accessories simple with a twist scarf to hold your hair back and a cute tea towel.

Wrapping Gifts and Listening to Christmas Records // Now that we've checked the holiday shopping and baking off the to do list, it's time for one of our favourite festive activities that really lets your creativity and personality shine. Stock up on fun fun wrapping paper and glittery ribbons, put your favourite Christmas albums on the record player (She & Him and Frank Sinatra top our list), and get to work dressing up those gifts. Comfort is key here, so we've paired our go-to boyfriend jeans with a graphic tee from Free People that features subtle metallic threading and a hint of beading on the shoulders. A cozy cardigan is key to finish off this look, and a statement necklace adds that extra sparkle.holidayoutfits12 holidayoutfits13

Hosting a Dinner Party // Whether it's friends or family, it's likely you'll find yourself hosting (or attending) at least one dinner party this season. Though we're all about party dresses no matter what the occasion, sometimes it's nice to switch it up and focus on separates, and there's no piece better suited for this challenge than the Jordan de Ruiter tulle skirt. Designed with a party in mind and always a favourite at Bicyclette, the skirt comes in a variety of colours no matter what your preference. Opting for the classic ballet slipper pink, we've added an embellished top, statement necklace and a swipe of our signature hot pink lipstick.
