We are gearing up for Osheaga in a few short weeks and as we count down, we have been taking a look at our top 3 trends for festival style this year, starting with floral and now focusing on the kimono. A few weeks we posted some festival style inspiration, and our Summer Lovin’ and Style Muse boards on Pinterest are full of looks that have us excited to start styling our own looks from the shop.
We've had a love for kimonos for the past few summers, and have been learning how to style them more practically. One of our favourite LA lines, For Love & Lemons, always has a number of festival-ready styles as part of their summer collection, and their mix of sheer, ivory and printed kimonos have caused us to fall a little more in love with the effortless bohemian style.
We use kimonos a lot when we style (seen here) and love the mix of a casual jeans and t-shirt look when paired with a colourful and romantic piece over top. Once you get over the "I couldn't wear one of those" or "I need to be tall to pull that off" you will realize that kimonos really are the best light layering piece during any season, and are a go-to style when to comes to summer music festivals. Whether you wear it during the day, as a bathing suit cover up, or over a little black dress for an evening out, the kimono adds some serious personality and flare to any look. We have a variety of kimonos at the shop right now so we focused on styling them in different ways to show the versatility they do really have.
[FOR LOVE & LEMONS Border Floral Kimono // LADAKH Ivory Lace Bustier]
With a love for layering and a gravitation towards anything floral, this gorgeous piece has been an instant hit. Featuring a sweet pastel watercolour floral print bordering the bottom hem, an open front that cuts across on a diagonal for optimal movement, and draped arms. This flowing kimono is the perfect layering piece for summer. It adds that something extra when it's too hot to bring yourself to style a complete outfit. Its black and white graphic print is bold and edgy and looks great paired with denim shorts or thrown over a black mini dress for a night on the town.
This kimono is a bohemian dream with it's great shape and flowing arms. All over print and silky feel. Add something extra to your jean shorts and tee combo and feel feminine and fun all season!
