We’re always on the hunt for new blogs and upon coming across Jacey Duprie’s style blog Damsel in Diorwe were thrilled to have another one to add to our list. Reading a new blog for the first time is always such a treat, as it gives us the opportunity to dive into the archives and really get to know the blogger and their personal style. That’s exactly what we did with Damsel in Dior, with our attention initially attracted by her ‘Dancing Secrets’ post. A sparkly dress, pink wall and secret for finding the perfect party dress? Sold. Her posts are also fun to read – quick and to-the-point, but often with a little story or a bit of witty banter that makes it seem like you’re hanging out with one of your best girl friends.

Jacey’s style is more on the simplistic side, but there’s always an element to her outfits that adds a bit of an edge to an otherwise classic ensemble. You’ll often find her rocking bold sunnies (a styling tip that we’re also a fan of, if you haven’t noticed), and some of our favourite outfits of hers involve a leather jacket and statement necklace. A girl after our own sartorial heart.

We’ve selected some of our favourite looks from Damsel in Dior and put together some styling tips.

Keep It Classic // If you work in a more corporate environment and have to adhere to a dress code, stick with classic pieces that you can mix and match and use your accessories to add a little personality into the outfits. A great blazer is a wardrobe staple (try the GESTUZ Baroque Blazer or KEEPSAKE Rebel Heart Jacket), and a sticking with black and white is the perfect way to pull off a chic look.

Just Add Leather // Whether it’s a leather jacket, vest, pants or skirt, we’re big fans of mixing leather with more feminine pieces to add a rock n’ roll element. Our favourite combination involves floral print or softer textures, which really allow you to play with the juxtaposition in an outfit. Try theMAISON SCOTCH Quilted Biker Skirt for just a hint of leather, or the BARDOT Military Jacket for an outerwear piece.

Black Lace for a Feminine Touch // We all know that black is a staple in any wardrobe, but if you’re wanting to keep it more on the feminine side and stay away from heavier pieces, lace is the perfect addition. It adds a beautiful delicate texture to all-black ensembles and the layering potential is endless. The FREE PEOPLE Pretty Pleats Skirt is such a beautiful piece that can be styled numerous ways, or try the JOVONNISTA Dark Hour Dress, which lends a ladylike element.

Outerwear for Texture and Colour // When the cold weather hits it can be easy to fall into the pattern of dark outerwear pieces that lack personality, but because they’re essential in our wardrobes, it can also be the perfect opportunity to add some colour and texture into your outfit. We love the woven floral pattern of the LADAKH Tapestry Jacket, or play up the nordic trend with the GANNI Union Jack Knit.
