Behind the Scenes Video // Tablescape Styling

It's safe to say that my happy place is on set, watching all the pieces come together and bringing the vision to life after weeks of planning, inspiration gathering and detail dreaming. There's a collaborative energy that just can't be replicated, and it's truly where the magic starts to happen.

In an attempt to capture this, we played around with filming our last styled shoot, with Abby taking video and following Scarlet as she shot the tablescape and yours truly, finessing the details and adding the final touches. We also have some special appearances by Alex (who also did all the stationery design for the shoot), flowers by Blush and Bloom and mini pop tarts by Bake Shoppe. Oh, and I couldn't have done it without my in-house editor extraordinaire, Jason

How to Conduct an Instagram Audit

How to Conduct an Instagram Audit

Every few months (or quarterly, if you abide by that system), I find myself going through a bit of a check-in with where I'm at in my business, how I'm doing on any goals I set for myself, and aligning on anything I may have on the horizon. One of the tools I’ve been using to go through this in a more systematic way is a good ‘ole fashioned audit. I usually start with an overall brand audit, but for today’s purposes, I want to spend some time dissecting a smaller piece of the puzzle — Instagram.

For someone who spends so much time on Pinterest (for work, I swear!), it took me awhile to realize that a lot of the graphic inspiration I was pinning and felt drawn to was from one designer — Cocorrina.

With a focus on hand lettering, beautiful type, textured details and overall layout design, scrolling through her blog is a visual treat, full of stunning designs that mix various elements in interesting ways and look like they could be framed on a wall. And those are just the pieces she creates for her blog, let alone her client and branding work.

What makes you, you? Thoughts on Finding Your Brand Magic

Every so often, I go through these cycles of inner negativity, often following a particularly busy period. I felt like I was off my game, uninspired and lacking creative motivation. When these periods hit, I struggle to produce the high quality of work that I hold myself too, and I start to beat myself up over it.

The feelings of self-doubt and comparison settle in, and it feels like an impossible task to try to pull myself out of it.

I’ve always found that creativity thrives most when limitations are set, and this has proven true when it comes to the wedding as well. For example, with a relatively tight budget and a location that requires us to have a tented wedding, it’s forced us to prioritize what the most important elements of the big day are and where we choose to spend our money, and also to think outside the box a little when it comes to transforming a standard tent into a setting that feels as though it’s a part of the forested grounds and captures that enchanted feeling we’ve identified as being part of our theme.

Which is where the DIYs come in.

Get Up and Play Because It's Fun (Advice from Taylor Swift)

Get Up and Play Because It's Fun (Advice from Taylor Swift)

When I first watched the Taylor Swift 1989 World Tour documentary, I found myself pulling out my notebook and starting to take notes. Yes, I'm a nerd like that. Amidst the music, sparkly crop tops and perfect red lips, what really struck me was the frequency of guest musician appearances during her concerts, and how many of the interviews in the documentary were focused on these other artists.
