90 DAYS BEAUTY . NIGHT ON THE TOWN

We’re pleased to introduce a new blog feature, ‘All Made Up’, hosted by hair and makeup artist extraordinaire, Ashley Readings. We work with Ashley on most of our lookbook shoots and other creative projects, and this new collaboration is the perfect way to offer our readers exclusive beauty tips and behind-the-scenes content. Plus, we like any excuse to dress up and have our hair and make up done!

Filming 90 Days made me think so much about those truly magical initial three months in a relationship. The feeling of nervous excitement as you put together an outfit carefully planned to impress then spend hours in front of a mirror applying and reapplying liquid liner until.it.is.just.so. Unless, you know, you’re one of those girls that gets the wing perfect the first time around. On both eyes.

Yeah, didn’t think so.

Quinn’s evening looks explored what it’s like to get dressed up for someone else. To feel confident and pretty and know that he is going to do a double take when he sees you for the first time. For Quinn and Julian’s date on College St. Quinn’s hair was curled a little tighter than normal and pinned into a loose but voluminous half up style. The same Bardot-esque volume was used for the pony tail that Quinn rocked during Julian’s show at the end of the film, with the curl brushed out. Take smaller sections wrapped around a 3/4in barrel iron for a tighter curl and make sure to use a firm hold hairspray to keep it in place. When brushing the curl out, spray your brush with shine spray to help loosen things up and keep your hair looking healthy.

For both dates, her makeup was much darker than day time with a dark grey shadow swept across her lid and blended up and out. A highlight was applied on the center of her lid and blended from her brow bone down towards the grey shadow. A thin cream liner, pushed into the lash line was followed by heaps of mascara.

Unsolicited advice: Go all out. Wear the hot pink lipstick. The smokey eye. Maybe even some false lashes! Buy a new dress and have fun.
